Caves in what looks like folds in a giant flounce were home to some of the Dead Sea Scrolls for nearly 2,000 years. Here we see Cave 4, where the largest hoard of scrolls was found, adjacent to the Qumran settlement. The Teacher of Righteousness of the Dead Sea Scroll community was its religious leader whom we learn about in a number of the so called sectarian scrolls—the Damascus Document, the Thanksgiving Hymns scroll, commentaries (pesharim) on Habakkuk and Psalms, the letter known as MMT and others. In some ways the Teacher of Righteousness resembled Jesus. But important differences also existed between them.
