A modified seat belt secures the volunteer’s feet to the vertical bar (seen here, compare with previous photo and next photo). This volunteer, like all the others who participated in the study, remained on the cross for 5 to 45 minutes and experienced no difficulty in breathing, and blood analysis and other tests revealed no evidence of oxygen lack.
