Megiddo Horned Altar: Measuring 21 inches high, this limestone altar with horn-shaped projections at the corners was discovered at Megiddo in a tenth- or ninth-century B.C.E. context. Numerous small altars dating from the tenth to seventh centuries B.C.E. have been uncovered at various sites in Israel—suggesting that the making of offerings of grain, oil, wine or incense to Yahweh or other deities was a widespread cultic practice.
