ADA YARDENI

THE INFAMOUS OSSUARY. The James Ossuary is a limestone ossuary (bone box used in burials) with an Aramaic inscription, reading “James (Yaߵaqob), son of Joseph (Yosef), brother of Jesus (Yeshuaߵ).” Ossuaries were common in first-century Jerusalem. Pictured is a drawing of the contested inscription by Ada Yardeni.
