SO MUCH LIKE SOLOMON’S. The Nea Church commissioned by Emperor Justinian and built on the Cardo in Jerusalem was styled to rival Solomon’s Temple. As seen from this reconstruction of the Nea Church, it resembles Solomon’s Temple with prominent pillars at the entrance and a clear division between the courtyard and the sanctuary. They were also both constructed on the highest hill in the city at their times and had roofs made from the famous cedars of Lebanon.
