TORAH SHRINE. A staircase leads up to the aedicula (raised platform). Standing on the aedicula are four columns. The two inner on each side are decorated with a menorah relief at the top. At the foot of each menorah is an incense shovel (mahtah) and a palm frond (lulav), a combination commonly found in Galilean Byzantine synagogue mosaics.
