JEWISH SYMBOLS. Broken chancel screens and pillars were found in Limyra’s Jewish building. The screens had been reused as paving stones, but originally they would have been used in a synagogue to separate the Torah Shrine from the rest of the hall. A menorah and shofar (ram’s horn) appear on one chancel screen, and a menorah and lulav (palm branch) on the other, widely used symbols in other ancient Jewish art.
