BIBLICAL KADESH? The Bible refers to a settlement called Kadesh that played an important role during the Israelites’ wanderings in the wilderness. Moses’ sister Miriam died and was buried there. Since the 19th century, scholars have been trying to identify Biblical Kadesh, but the best candidate, Tell el-Qudeirat, seemed to have no settlement this early.
