The Loya Church was a typical single-apse basilica with a nave, two side aisles and colorful floor mosaics. The building measures 67 by 45.6 feet. Constructed in the early sixth century C.E., the church was struck by iconoclasts in the eighth century and abandoned by the end of that century. Only its layout and mosaics survive.
