TEXTILE TOOLS. This archaeological indication of weaving, such as loom weights (or spindle whorls, lower left), was excavated at Tel en-Nasbeh, 7.5 miles northwest of Jerusalem. Fibers of flax (upper left) and wool (upper right) were used to make fabric—an everyday task in women’s lives in Iron Age Israel.
