A JEWISH RITUAL BATH, or mikveh, was uncovered west of the synagogue. The Herodian-period bath comprised two hewn rooms coated with gray hydraulic plaster. The synagogue and its associated mikveh clearly identify Umm el-‘Umdan as a Jewish village in the late Second Temple period.
