PALEOGRAPHERS AGREE. André Lemaire of the Sorbonne authored the BAR article that introduced the James Ossuary to the world in 2002. He and Ada Yardeni (shown here) of the Hebrew University are both expert paleographers who study ancient inscriptions based on the shape and stance of the letters. Both agree that the inscription on the James Ossuary is authentic. No other paleographer has offered a substantive critique of their work.
