“Some of the works of the law,” or miqsat ma’aseh ha-torah in Hebrew, is a key phrase in a Cave 4 manuscript designated 4QMMT, a fragment of which is shown at right. This ancient text was also the source of a modern legal dispute. When the Biblical Archaeology Society published scholar Elisha Qimron’s reconstruction of this text in our 1991 Facsimile Edition of the Dead Sea Scrolls, Qimron sued for copyright infringement and won.
