“YEAR ONE OF THE REDEMPTION OF ISRAEL” is inscribed on this bronze coin from the first year of the Bar-Kokhba Revolt. The obverse shows a palm tree with the inscription, “Elazar the Priest.” The reverse pictures a bunch of grapes with a designation of the year. Unlike this coin, other Second Revolt coins found at the site were bonded together by the heat of the flames and contained burn stains.
