This plan shows the earlier camp of the Xth Legion (after suppressing the First Jewish Revolt in 70 C.E.) in the area southwest of the Temple Mount and the later camp (as part of the new plan of Aelia Capitolina as it was established by Hadrian) on the Temple Mount itself, as well as the area adjacent thereto. Excavations south and southwest of the Temple Mount exposed numerous finds suggesting a Roman army presence there after the establishment of Aelia Capitolina, including more than 190 Aelia Capitolina coins.
