At the center of the mosaic floor in the first Samaritan synagogue discovered in Palestine, two menorahs flank what may be a schematic representation of Mt. Gerizim. Above them, a Greek inscription reads “Restoration of the place of prayer,” referring to renovations of the synagogue.
