Siegfried Horn, beginning in 1968, directed the first three seasons of excavations at Tell Hesban, the largest dig ever conducted in Jordan up to that time. He also instituted an archaeological survey of the Hesban region, thus pioneering modern multidisciplinary research. A member of BAR’s Editorial Advisory Board, Horn served as professor of archaeology and history of antiquity from 1951 to 1976 at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
