A donor’s recognition. Set into the floor of the Eshtemoa synagogue portico, thk Aramaic inscription mentions L‘azar the priest and his son, who donated one tremissis (a third of a gold denarius) to the synagogue. The complete inscription reads as follows: “Remember for good L‘azar the priest and his son who gave one tremissis from his earnings.”
