Garo Nalbandian

The synagogue’s center entrance. Framed within the reconstructed doorway are four of the original 12 columns that supported the superstructure and separated the interior space into a central nave with aisles on either side and in the back. Above the pseudo-Ionic column capitals three architectural elements are clearly visible: the undecorated architrave resting directly on the capitals, the rounded decorated frieze, and, uppermost, the cornice.
