Solomon’s Stables, a misnomer for the arched substructure beneath the southeast corner of the Temple Mount. Herod, not Solomon, built these impressive tiered vaults, and he built them not as stables but as a support for his southern extension of the Temple Mount on the steeply sloping flank of the traditional site of Mt. Moriah. The vaults did, in fact, become a stable during the Crusader occupation of Jerusalem.
