Casemate wall and Solomonic gate at Hazor. What appears to be an eight chambered gateway is at the lower right in this plan. Only the six rectangular rooms (shown closed by a shaded rectangle indicating a door or threshold) belong to the gate itself. The two square chambers (shown in color) are towers on the outside of the gateway. Casemate walls extended from both sides of this gateway; only the one on the left has been drawn. The rooms forming the casemate wall could be entered from inside the city.
