Dr. Stefan Reif, Director of the Taylor-Schechter Genizah Research Unit at the Cambridge University Library. Dr. Reif holds an album of Genizah manuscript fragments. On the wall behind the desk is the famous photograph of Solomon Schechter surrounded by the clutter of tens of thousands of unsorted Genizah manuscripts. Today after nine years of work, Reif and his staff have completed the giant task of cataloguing and are engaged in cleaning and preserving the 140,000 fragments Schechter brought to Cambridge from Cairo.
