The interior of the Ben Ezra Synagogue of Cairo. In this drawing we see the two floors of the synagogue: the first floor, with the ark holding the Torah scrolls against the rear wall, and the balcony level where the women sit. The Genizah entrance (not visible in this drawing) is through an opening high on the rear wall of the balcony to the left of the ark.
