Smoothly dressed Herodian masonry forms the walls of this subterranean north-south passage below the Temple Mount. This corridor, which is 11.5 feet high, 3 feet wide, and 69 feet long, is entered below one of the vaulted rooms which supports the narrow street along the south wall of the Temple Mount. The northern end of this passage ends at a doorway which probably leads to a room beneath the monumental substructure of the southeast quadrant of the Temple Mount, known as “Solomon’s Stable.”
