Disenchanted by Parker’s failure to make good on his promises of buried treasure after a year of excavation, and under increasing pressure from the Jews of the city who felt Parker was defiling the site of the tombs of David and Solomon, the Turkish government gave Parker just eleven months to complete his mission.
