This private seal, found on a four-handled royal jar at the city gate, reads Meshulam [son of] Ahimelech. Two handles bore the stamp shown here. The other two handles on the jar bore seal impressions with a two-winged royal emblem, and the name of the city Sochoh. Over 50 handles with private stamps were found in Lachish as well as over 350 handles with royal winged emblems.
