Noah’s Ark by Joseph Hidley (1830–1872): Flood story motifs common to both Babylonian epics and the Genesis flood story are charmingly portrayed in this American naive painting. Obviously inspired by the Biblical account, Hidley is thought to have painted this and other works found in a farmhouse near Troy, New York for the family’s children.
