The Interior of the Church of St. Catherine: The nave, or long, central aisle of the Church, is seen from the narthex, or entry hall, through the carved wooden sixth century portal. In the center, the large Crucifixion surmounting the iconostasis or screen obstructs the view of the altar and of the Transfiguration scene which is on the ceiling of the apse beyond.
