This carved stone was found in secondary use, incorporated into the wall of a Moslem Omayyad palace from about 700 A.D. Originally it was almost certainly part of a lintel from the Nea church. In secondary use, the stone has been turned upside down. Also upside down are alpha and omega signs (the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet representing the beginning and the end) which can be seen above the small rosettes in the circle.
