One of the most beautiful mosaics ever to be found in Jerusalem. Originally, it probably graced the floor of a wealthy Jerusalemite’s home about the time of Jesus in the fashionable Upper City, across from the Temple Mount. It is not difficult to imagine the opulence of the rest of the house from this magnificent fragment. Unfortunately, a later builder had no reluctance in constructing a new structure which destroyed a good part of the part of the mosaic.
