$5,000 In Prizes Offered for ASOR Papers
The Biblical Archaeology Society announces the Hershel Shanks Prizes for the best academic papers delivered at the
ASOR annual meeting. They will be given in five categories:
1. Archaeology Related to the Hebrew Bible
2. Archaeology Related to the New Testament
3. Archaeology Related to Patristic Literature and Early Christianity
4. Archaeology Related to the Talmud and Late Antique Judaism
5. Archaeology in Israel.
Each prize will carry an honorarium of $1,000. ASOR (the American Schools of Oriental Research)
is the premier organization of professional scholars of archaeology in the Near East and the Mediterranean. Its annual
meeting is held in mid-November in a different U.S. city each year.
