Levy to Get Obit, After All
In our November/December 2003 issue, we chided the American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR) for failing to publish an obituary of one of its honorary trustees, antiquities collector Leon Levy, who died on April 6. We wrote, “Apparently, however, it is all right to accept donations from a collector like Levy while he is alive and even to make him an honorary trustee, but once he dies there is no reason to embarrass oneself by noting his death” (Strata, “The Ultimate Snub,” p. 21).
We are happy to report that in the Fall issue of the ASOR Newsletter, ASOR President Larry Geraty announced that an obituary of Levy would be published in the next ASOR Newsletter.
