A dog and a lion (right and left, respectively) do battle on the top register of a 3-foot-high basalt relief from Late Bronze Age Beth-Shean. In the lower register the dog seems to be vanquishing his foe, biting the haunches of the lion. Author Stager suggests that the dog in this relief may represent Mukal in his aspect of god of healing.
